August 2017 saw the introduction of the relevantly dubbed “Medic Update” core algorithm update by Google. The main impact for SEO was that your money or your life (YMYL) pages were being more harshly reviewed for expertise, authority and trust, which saw a massive shake up in financial sectors, legal sectors, insurance and any health or medical related markets – hence the dub of the “medic update” adopted by much of the search industry.

What we Did for Cosmetic Insure…
Our first plan of action was to to insure that the expertise, authority and trust (E-A-T) was strong on the website.
We improved the E-A-T by editing the Cosmetic Insure homepage to have a carousel of Cosmetic Insure’s professional members of staff. Next we needed to set the client up on Google Search Console by verifying in the DNS. We also setup Google Analytics and events tracking using Google Tag Manager and added click heat map software on the site to see if users were missing any key areas of the site needed to lead to an enquiry. After this was all set up we ran a full technical SEO audit on the website and worked with the developers to fix our findings to make sure indexability of the site from a technical perspective was as good as it could possibly be.
Once the E-A-T for the medic algorithm update and technical aspects of SEO were completed, we started to implement a full on-page SEO strategy on the website updated Alt tags, Meta Titles, Meta Descriptions and Header tags before moving on to our outreach strategy to reputable Health and Medical sites with strong Domain Authority to earn links back to the Cosmetic Insure site to improve their backlink profile and domain authority.
This resulted in Cosmetic Insure:
– Doubling organic traffic
– Ranking position 1 on Google for lucrative aesthetic and cosmetic insurance-related search terms
– Outranking large comparison sites and London insurance brokers
